tai chi and qigong Flow Intro Class in central park

Fall Aspen Trees and Blue Skies reflect in the concentric rings on a pond's surface.

We are excited to offer you an opportunity to experience Tai Chi and Qigong along with the birds, sunshine and trees of Northfield’s Central Park within the support of a loving and caring community. Everyone is welcome!

Each hour-long program will include 25 minutes of Tai Chi Flow and 25 minutes of Qigong Flow.

Tai Chi Flow Description:

Come play tai chi! This gentle, low impact moving meditation doubles as moving “medication” * naturally relieving pain and inflammation while increasing joint health, flexibility, and balance. There are no forms to remember or be corrected on so you can deepen into the continuous flow experience in class and with regular practice in your daily life as well.

 * Harvard Medical School research (and common experience) has shown benefits include:

  • Relieving pain and reducing inflammation

  • Reducing stress, anxiety, and depression

  • Increasing immune function

  • Decreasing high blood pressure

  • Increasing lower extremity strength

  • Increasing flexibility and joint health

  • Reducing fear and risk of falling

Plus: we’ll experiment with 1-3 Embodiment Yoga Poses each class.  These variations on traditional poses from Yoga and Martial Arts are used to access the wisdom of the body and support you in feeling more fully present and empowered.  Participation is always optional and Rob will guide you in a way that reminds you to work with little issues and gives opportunities to opt-out along the way.

Qigong Flow Description:

Come and feel the flow as we practice simple yet powerful Qigong movements that help your mind, body and spirit relax, self-regulate and heal. As we practice these movements together, we will uncover:

  • The key elements of qigong and understanding how to apply them to help you create a healthy and energetic body, mind and spirit.

  • The basics of energy and understand how to use our mind, focus and visualization to help direct our energy for health and healing.

  • How to breathe into your entire body and use your breath to strengthen the flow of energy throughout your body and help your body detoxify.

  • Your unique way of experiencing qi and how to stay grounded in your experience.

  • Simple tips to support your unique practice.
